SAN JUAN RIVER, NICARAGUA

In 2018, Gary Wockner traveled to Nicaragua to learn and write a story about the proposed “Interoceanic Canal” across the country of Nicaragua. The proposed Canal would connect the Caribbean Sea with the Pacific Ocean, and cause massive environmental damage to rivers, lakes and wetlands in Nicaragua, including to the San Juan River. Gary wrote a story about the issue titled, “No Al Canal“, which appeared in the Boulder Weekly.
