ZAMBEZI RIVER, ZAMBIA

In 2019, Gary Wockner traveled to Zambia to raft on the threatened Zambezi River which is the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. The proposed “Batoka Gorge Dam” would destroy most of the world-renowned whitewater rapids on the river and put many local people out of work in the river-recreation community. Gary helped launch the “Zambezi River Waterkeeper Affiliate” which is working to fight the proposed dam and protect the river.
